Top Baltimore Orioles prospect Samuel Basallo agreed to an eight-year, $67 million contract extension, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

Basallo, who turned 21 on Aug. 13, made his major-league debut four days later. MLB Pipeline ranked the catcher/first baseman as the No. 8 overall prospect in baseball at the time.

Since making his debut last Sunday, he is batting .286 (4-for-14) with one double, five RBIs and one run in four games.

The Orioles signed the Dominican Republic native in January 2021 to a then-franchise record international signing bonus of $1.3 million.

Basallo appeared in 401 minor league games with a slash line of .283/.366/.498/.864 with 73 home runs and 269 runs driven in.
