SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Friday will be another Impact Day with triple-digit highs expected in the valley.
Valley temperatures are forecast to climb to around 102 this afternoon. The foothills will be warmer as well, with highs just under 100, while the Sierra will top out near 82 degrees.
The heat will likely challenge some area records again. In Stockton, the forecast high of 104 could tie the record of 104 set in 1982. In Modesto, today’s forecast high of 102 is expected to break the daily record of 101, also set in 1982.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect for much of Northern California through Saturday evening, with highs reaching up to 107 and widespread moderate to major heat risk.
We are also tracking thunderstorms in the Sierra this afternoon, becoming more widespread on Saturday
