LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Douglass Aquatic Center is officially open. Mayor Linda Gorton cut the ribbon on the new center Thursday.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the pool has been closed for over two years.

“We are so excited to welcome families and our entire community to this exciting new aquatic center,” Gorton said. “While the needed renovation required closure for a season, we now have a brand-new pool with so many exciting features for the neighborhood and entire city to enjoy. With so many activities, and lots of shade structures to keep everyone cool, it is easy to envision how popular this pool will be in the years to come.”
