LONG BEACH – Long Beach Police Department officers are continuing their investigation of a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a loaded trailer in the Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach.

Officers responded at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday to the area of Oregon Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway regarding a person who was down. When they arrived at the scene, the officers found an injured man lying on the southwest sidewalk of the intersection, according to a LBPD press release.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the victim to a hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed a semi-truck with a loaded trailer was turning southbound onto Oregon from eastbound Pacific Coast Highway and during the turn, the rear tires of the trailer rolled
