LOS ANGELES – A woman was fatally wounded in a shooting while trying to stop a fight aboard a Metro bus in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, authorities said Saturday.

The shooting occurred about 10:50 p.m. Friday at Manchester and Belford avenues, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.

“A bus operator headed eastbound on Metro Bus Line 115 near LAX heard gunshots from the rear of the bus and immediately stopped allowing all passengers to exit,” said Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo. “One passenger was found injured and transported to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.”
