A man convicted in a fatal shooting near Eckville in 2022 will have to wait a few more days to hear his punishment.
Dustin Lemay-Storms, 37, was to be sentenced on Thursday. Five victim impact statements were presented to Red Deer Court of King's Bench Justice Wayne Renke that day before sentencing was adjourned due to lack of time.
Lema-Storms is now expected to be sentenced on Sept. 2.
Following a three-week judge alone trial in January, Lemay-Storms was convicted of manslaughter by Renke.
Lemay-Storms was initially charged with second-degree murder after opening fire in the early hours of June 20, 2022 on a pickup being driven by Stephen Pond, 46, whose wife Leanne Low was in the passenger seat.
Six shots were fired at the pickup, and one hit Pond in the head, fatally wounding him.
