A Parliamentary Committee in India has drawn attention to what has been described as an "existential threat" to flight safety systems in India. According to the BBC, the cause is a "profound and persistent shortage of technical and regulatory personnel" , with almost half of the current available posts at the aviation safety regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), remaining unfilled.
