COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A judge rejected the plea deal for former southern Colorado funeral home owner Jon Hallford on Friday, according to 11 News crew members present in the courtroom.

Hallford and his wife, Carie, are accused of improperly storing nearly 200 bodies through their business, Return to Nature Funeral Home.

Both reached plea deals with Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The terms of that agreement suggest a 20-year prison sentence be served at the same time as their federal sentences. Jon has already been sentenced to 20 years in prison for federal financial crimes in the case.

Hallford’s sentencing for his state charges was set for Friday, but Judge Bentley has ruled that the case will only be reset for trial if Hallford rescinds his guilty
