PORTAGE, Wis. -- The Portage patrol officer accused of shoving a pacifier down his son's throat so hard that it caused bleeding on the child's brain is no longer employed by the city.
Portage Police Chief Keith Klafke said Friday that his department and the city had reached a separation agreement with Cameron Coronado, who was charged this week with child abuse and domestic violence.
Coronado was arrested over the weekend and placed on paid administrative leave. Klafke said the decision to place him on leave was based on federal law, labor law and agreements with the police union.
During a court appearance Wednesday, a judge set Coronado's cash bond at $10,000. He has since posted that bond and was released from the Sauk County Jail.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Sept. 3
