HENDERSON, Ky. — Henderson County leaders are considering slashing the county's insurance premium tax in half, a move that could save residents outside the city limits approximately $2 million annually amid rising insurance costs.

County Judge Executive Bradley Schneider announced the potential cut during his recent “State of the County” address, citing the county’s strong financial position as the key enabler. The proposal targets the 9.8% tax on premiums for home, auto and renter’s insurance, which has been in place since the late 1990s.

“It’ll be the largest tax cut Henderson County Fiscal Court has enacted in recent history,” Schneider said.
