HILLSBORO, Ore. — A man convicted of kidnapping this week disappeared before the conclusion of his trial, according to the Washington County District Attorney's office. Over Francisco Ochoa-Lopez, 27, was convicted in absentia of second-degree kidnapping.

Ochoa-Lopez was in attendance for the first two days of his trial, but he failed to return to court after that, the DA's office said. A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest, and prosecutors asked that anyone with information about his location contact law enforcement.

The charge against Ochoa-Lopez stemmed from September 2023, when he approached a young child outside an apartment complex in Beaverton, picked her up and brought her to his apartment. Ochoa-Lopez didn't know the child or her family, the DA's office said.
