PORTAGE, Wis. (WFRV) - A police chief in Wisconsin says the department has separated from an officer who was arrested on charges of child abuse and domestic disorderly conduct.

In a press conference from the Portage Police Department on Friday, Chief Keith Klafke provided details on the investigation surrounding now former Portage Police Officer Cameron Coronado.

According to Chief Klafke, an on-duty sergeant reported to him that Coronado was allegedly involved in an incident at home while off-duty, requiring immediate police action. Chief Klafke said that the call came in around 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 16.

An outside agency was reportedly contacted as the investigators for the case, and Coronado was immediately placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard law and procedure.
