OWOSSO, Mich. (WILX) - Erik Jones has run over 300 races in the NASCAR Cup Series over the last 10 years, but before taking his talents to super speedways like Daytona and Talladega, Jones earned his racing stripes on short tracks like the Owosso Speedway, near his hometown of Byron.

This week, Jones returned to Owosso to take part in the ASA Stars Tour Michigan 300. While it was a break from the 36-race grind of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, it was hardly a week off.

“It’s fun to come home; I grew up 45 minutes from here,” Jones said. “It’s kind of a week off, but it’s kind of not. It’s a lot of work to come run these races and long days. It’s an expensive golf game for sure. This is my car, and it’s not easy to get it to the track, but it’s fun when you can come out and do it and run
