LOWMAN, N.Y. (WENY) -- This weekend the memory of the Battle of Newtown will be honored as a reenactment will take place at the Newtown Battlefield State Park. Festivities take place on Saturday, August 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..

?246 years ago, a battle in the Revolutionary War took place outside of what is now Elmira, at Newtown Battlefield State Park. This weekend's reenactment is here to help preserve the memory of this battle and teach about its impacts.
