ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Southern Tier college educator and scholar is now studying for a new potential profession, politician. The Democrat is seeking a chance to represent New York's 23rd Congressional District. The seat is currently occupied by Rep. Nick Langworthy, a Republican.

Aaron Gies officially launched his campaign at an event in his hometown of Olean, N.Y. on Thursday. WENY News recently sat down with him in a virtual interview to get his perspective on the campaign and his platform.
