BRADFORD COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- A Bradford County man is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal benefits over an almost 20 year period.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania charged Richard Burke, 75, of Milan, PA with Wire Fraud. According to authorities, Burke allegedly withdrew benefits payments from his deceased mother's bank account from approximately April 2005 until March of 2022.

The total amount of funds stolen in the form of Social Security and Veterans Affairs benefits total $350,634.23.

If convicted, Burke faces up to 20 years in federal prison, and a fine.
