SHERWOOD, Ark. - Sherwood residents will head to the polls on November 18 to decide the future of a wide-ranging initiative called Reimagining Sherwood.

The proposal would not raise taxes but instead re-dedicate the city’s existing three-quarter-cent sales tax to fund projects designed to enhance parks, build a new animal shelter, and fuel economic growth.

Mayor Mary Jo Heye-Townsell said the plan is about keeping pace with the city’s rapid growth.

“It really is growing tremendously residentially, we need it to also grow commercially,” Heye-Townsell said.
