CLARKE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A big attraction in a small city. The Pearce Pool has been helping locals and visitors stay cool during South Alabama summers for decades.
People in Jackson consider this monument of a pool at H.W. Pearce Jr. Memorial Park "a gem in the middle of nowhere."
“It is a gem. It is something sacred to me. It's something I always want to protect,” Park Assistant Director Tyler Doby said.
Built in 1949, the Pearce Pool is a generational attraction, bringing out local families and those from surrounding counties. Doby has many childhood memories at the pool and still enjoys it today.
