LEROY, N.Y. — The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that left two Florida residents dead early Friday morning in the Town of LeRoy.

Deputies said the crash happened at about 6:19 a.m. Friday at the intersection of West Bergen and Griswold roads.

According to a preliminary investigation, Brianna R. Welsh, 20, of Apopka, Fla., was driving a 2014 Nissan sedan westbound on Griswold Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Her vehicle collided with a 2018 Ford dump truck and trailer traveling northbound on West Bergen Road.

Both Welsh and her passenger — 20-year-old Mallen A. Mello, also of Apopka — were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the dump truck — identified as 36-year-old Timothy E. Briggs of Piffard, N.Y. — was not injured, the sheriff's office
