GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) -- With the high school football season officially underway, one community is celebrating more than just the win on the field, but the field itself.

The Greenville High School community kicked off the football season at their first home game in a new stadium. The rebuild was necessary after a tornado tore through town in 2024, severely damaging the old stadium, Harmon Field.

Cleanup and rebuilding took a long time, but the Green Wave came together to create the newly dubbed Greenville Alumni Stadium.

"Last year was a tough year, it meant a lot that everyone was behind it," said Scott Fitzgerald, head cannoneer.

The community was sad to lose the old stadium, but many say it all worked out for the best.
