'No reason for violence' | Kilgore student hospitalized following altercation, sparks concerns among parents

KILGORE, Texas — A violent incident at Kilgore Middle School has left a student hospitalized and sparked growing concern among parents and students about safety on campus, just days into the new school year.

Since classes resumed, Kilgore ISD has seen multiple emergency calls, alarming families. Thursday, a middle schooler was airlifted to a Dallas hospital with a fractured skull after a violent confrontation.

“Whenever I see those social media posts, I'm like, What is going on? Especially because I had to hear from another parent that this kid is in critical condition,” one parent Crystal Flores said.

Flores, a mother with children in the district, is speaking about what happened Aug. 21 at Kilgore Middle School, when a student was slammed to the floor during a confrontation.
