MAYVILLE — Charlie Yon was all over the field in Thompson’s season opener.

The Tommies’ captain had spent the past few seasons primarily on special teams and defense, with a little bit of work on the offense in 2024.

In Friday night’s crushing 42-0 win over May-Port-C-G, though, he also proved to be a force as a running back.

Yon opened the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown rush and a 3-yard run on the ensuing 2-point conversion to hand Thompson an 8-0 lead with 4:43 left in the first quarter. Just over two minutes into the second quarter, he crashed through the Patriot defense for a 12-yard touchdown, extending the Tommies’ lead to 14-0.
