CEDAR BLUFF, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The police chief is now the only working officer in Cedar Bluff. Neighbors say this situation has been going on for awhile and it’s time to find the right people who want to serve their community.

“I don’t think how much they’re paid is the issue. I think it’s much deeper,” said Rebekah Shaw.

An officer recently resigned during a town council meeting prompting the mayor to call an executive session. After an hour and a half, the council members accepted the officer’s resignation, leaving the town with just a police chief.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says his deputies are stepping up in the interim to keep folks in the town safe.
