Ayden Martinez caught a 48-yard pass from Chase Fry and made a heads-up lateral to Justin Hawbaker who ran 18 yards to the end zone with no time remaining to deliver Big Spring a stunning 23-20 win over Shippensburg Friday.

Braiden Carroll’s 23-yard touchdown run put Ship on top 20-14 with just 45 seconds remaining.

Fry completed just three passes all game (3-for-7, 102 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT) but saved his best for last. He connected on a 22-yard pass to Ashton Peffer with 45 seconds left to reach the BS 44.

After a timeout, the Bulldogs’ heroics arrived. Fry heaved to the right side into traffic and Martinez came down with it. In the process of being tackled, Martinez (2 catches, 80 yards) handed the ball to Hawbaker who took it the distance.
