Jim Baird, a retired Army major and commercial pilot from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, is giving away his cherished 1966 red Corvette Stingray to honor a fellow veteran, inspired by a country song.

Baird, who bought the Corvette in 1979 for about $3,800 plus his Chevrolet Vega from a fellow military member, received advice from another Corvette owner to "enjoy the car," which he did.
Now, Baird and his wife Linda are saying goodbye to the classic car, choosing to give it away to a deserving military member.
"It's been in my head a long time," Baird said.
