CORBIN — Corbin Primary School special education teacher Melanie Howard was named among the top elementary educators in the state, and has advanced to the final round for the 2026 Kentucky Teacher of the year.

Howard was one of only nine recipients across Kentucky to earn the prestigious Teacher Achievement Award, which recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership and impact in the classroom.
