NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Trump administration on Friday ordered an energy company to halt work on its offshore wind turbine installation project in New London.

The U.S. Dept. of Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management ordered Ørsted to stop activities on the outer continental shelf for the project, which started work last year after getting state and federal approval, Ørsted said.

The joint project between Ørsted's Revolution Wind and Global Infrastructure Partners' Skyborn Renewables is 80% done, with 45 out of 65 wind turbines installed, Ørsted said.

Revolution Wind is complying with the order and is taking the steps to stop the offshore activities, "ensuring the safety of workers and the environment," Ørsted said.
