DANDRIDGE—Host Jefferson County handed Morristown West a 3-1 volleyball setback Thursday afternoon in the first District Two 3-A game of the season for both teams.
The Lady Patriots won the first set 25-19 before West took the second with a 25-16 decision. Jefferson County then took the lead with a hard-earned 29-27 victory in set three and ended the match with a 25-21 triumph.
It was the second win for Jefferson County without a loss while the Lady Trojans ended the first week with a 1-2 worksheet.
Hailey Bonari, Katy Shrader and Kylie Wilde all had seven kills to lead the Lady Patriots. Wilde blocked three shots while Bonari and Mattie Allen had two blocks each. Liv St. Peter served up four aces and Karsyn Mull added three.
Zoey Zazueta knocked down 11 kills to top the West offensive
