Grundy, Hurley and Twin Valley will compete as Black Diamond District football rivals for the final time this fall.

The three schools will consolidate to form Southern Gap High School, scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.

The following is a look at each team as they begin their final seasons:

Grundy Golden Wave

2024 record: 7-5

Key returners : Trey Taylor, RB/DB, sr.; Garon Marcum, Kick Returner/DB/WR, jr.; Jackson Deel, TE/LB, jr.; Braxton Helton, LB, sr.; Luke “Quake” Shelton, OL/DL, sr.

Promising newcomer: Ayden Whited, QB, jr.

Key losses: Logan Lester, QB/DB; Carson Deel, LB; Brady Deel, LB/C; Shaiem Gordon, RB/LB; Brody Coleman, WR

Outlook: It’s quality over quantity for Grundy, which had just 22 players on its preseason roster.
