The Massachusetts State Police Detectives are investigating a non-fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Worcester on Friday.
The incident occurred Friday morning when detectives assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office were executing an arrest warrant on a Superior Court case around Strathmore Road, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
The warrant was for Chris Betances, 23, of Worcester, who is now accused of fleeing in a vehicle and driving it toward officers, the statement reads. A Deputy U.S. Marshal on scene, who was concerned “for his [own] safety, shot and wounded Mr. Betances.”
Officers immediately provided aid to Betances and drove him to a local hospital. He is in stable condition, the district attorney added.
