Deportation Twist: Man Declines Costa Rica Deal, Set for Uganda

Immigration officials are moving to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda after he turned down an offer to be sent to Costa Rica in a deal tied to a human smuggling case.

The Salvadoran national, whose case has become a flashpoint in immigration policy, was released from a Tennessee jail on Friday and is now ordered to report to immigration authorities on Monday for his deportation to the East African nation.

According to a Saturday court filing, the offer to deport Abrego Garcia to Costa Rica was made late Thursday, just as it became clear he would be released from jail the next day.
