WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- An investigation is underway, and one person is in custody after an overnight shooting in the Dupont Circle area left a man injured.

The investigation began when officers were called to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and N Street, Northwest, at around 3:10 a.m. on Aug. 23, after gunshots were reportedly heard in the area.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Medics took the man to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Investigators recovered a weapon, and MPD officers arrested one person in connection with the shooting, police said.
