Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Greater Sudbury and surrounding areas, warning residents of potentially dangerous weather conditions expected to develop this afternoon into the evening.
Meteorologists say the atmosphere is primed for severe thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts up to 90 km/h and hail as large as a toonie. These conditions could lead to local utility outages and damage to roofs, fences, trees, and temporary structures.
