BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. —

Over 20 people were taken to the hospital after a school bus carrying Aliquippa Jr. High football players, parents, and staff crashed in Economy Borough, Beaver County, Saturday morning.

In a statement from Beaver County EMS, first responders were called to the 190 block of Shaffer Road after a bus carrying students and parents from the Aliquippa School District crashed just before 10 a.m. Advertisement

Pittsburgh's Action News 4 later arrived at the scene, where one of the student's parents said the bus had been carrying members of the school district's middle school football team.

Economy Police Chief Michael O'Brien also confirmed that 21 people were taken to the hospital as a result of the incident. The severity of the injuries was not immediately known.
