Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre has finally reopened after a seven-year closure.

The historic theatre , in the Gorbals, closed for a dramatic schedule of renovations and improvements in 2018. A procession was held through the area today (Saturday, August 23), with locals and Citizens Theatre participatory groups led by two specially crafted puppets, Comedy and Tragedy, inspired by two of the Greek goddess statues on top of the theatre, Melpomene (Tragedy) and Thalia (Comedy).

The procession passed through new housing developments that have sprung up while the theatre has been closed. Community performances and interactive moments invited everyone to take part in the story.
