KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knoxville Police Department officers arrested a man with his four-year-old child Friday who was planning to meet with a child sex trafficker, according to a news release from Communications Manager Scott Erland.
That child sex trafficker was actually an undercover officer, KPD said, who was working as a result of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The case centers on 46-year-old Travis Dewayne Mitchell Jr., who was charged with online enticement of a minor.
“With the support of KPD Special Operations Squad personnel, Mitchell Jr. was taken into custody after he arrived at a business on North Broadway with his four-year-old child to meet with an undercover officer who was posing as a potential child sex trafficker,” KPD said.
