OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - As Nebraska’s State Fair is underway, we’re celebrating the lengthy history of the event.

Photographs from years past show scenes from Brownsville in 1870, and many more from Lincoln.

It was Nebraska City, however, that hosted the initial event in 1859. Over 100 of those years, the Fair has called Lincoln home.

According to the Nebraska State Historical Society, the Fair has only been cancelled in two separate years, 1868 and 1945.
