PORTLAND, Conn. (WFSB) - An investigation is underway following a serious crash in Portland on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area of Route 17 near Apple Tree Lane after a report of a serious motor vehicle crash, the police department said.

Route 17 at Isinglass and Apple Tree will close for a few hours.

The public is asked to avoid the area at this time.

No further details were released.
