RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is dead after getting hit by a car Friday night in Raleigh, according to authorities.
round 9:30 p.m., Raleigh police were called to a crash involving a pedestrian on Hammond Road near the Interstate 40 West on-ramp. They found 57-year-old James Patterson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said that Patterson was walking in the travel lane, wearing dark clothing in an area with poor lighting, when the crash occurred.
Driver remained on scene and completed several tests. Authorities do not believe speed or impairment were factors in this crash.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
