Sentencing for a Sudanese immigrant who now calls Sudbury home but can’t stay out of trouble has been delayed.
Illay Mohamed, who has a growing criminal record and spent time in and out of jail, was in Sudbury court on 11 new charges, including two counts of pointing a firearm.

However, sentencing was delayed because custody records from the Sudbury Jail and Toronto South Detention Centre had just arrived. Neither the Crown nor Justice Leonard Kim had seen them, either.
“There is a joint (sentencing) position being proposed,” defence lawyer Michael Michel told Justice Kim. “He is close to time served with respect to what is being proposed.”
