SPOKANE, Wash. — West Maxwell Ave. between North Walnut St. and North Elm St. will be closed Monday, August 25 through Friday, September 19 for traffic signal upgrades as part of the Maxwell Pettet to Walnut Bike/Pedestrian project currently underway.

The project aims to improve the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in the area and better connect the West Central Neighborhood with AM Cannon Park, the West Central Community Center, and the Centennial Trail. Upgrades include new sidewalks, bike lanes and crosswalk enhancements.

In a press release, the City of Spokane asked community members to be mindful of construction, slow down and continue to support businesses affected by the closed road.
