SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Board of Parole Hearings has denied parole to Lyle Menendez, one day after his brother Erik was also denied release, in connection to the brutal 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in Beverly Hills.
Lyle Menendez appeared by video from Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, while Deputy District Attorney Ethan Milius presented the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office’s arguments remotely from Los Angeles.
The Board, acting independently from Erik’s hearing, cited Lyle’s continued rules violations in prison and lack of full accountability for the killings as grounds for denial. Psychological evaluations also concluded he poses a moderate risk if released.
