OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. (WSIL) — One person is dead after a crash in Alexander County on Friday night.

Illinois State Police (ISP) said the incident happened at around 8:10 p.m. on August 22, along Route 3 at Cypress Lane, just southeast of Olive Branch.

State police said a Chevrolet Silverado was going north on Route 3 when the vehicle traveled off the road and hit a utility police, which knocked down power lines. ISP said the Chevrolet caught fire and was then engulfed in flames.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and flown out to a regional hospital. The driver was later pronounced dead.
