LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Louisville Fire Department was called out around 1 p.m. to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of South 8th Street.
The three-story apartment building is owned by the Louisville Metro Housing Authority.
When LFD fire companies arrived on scene, they found a large trash fire on the outside of the building.
It was determined that the fire was started from a pile of discarded items left by recently evicted tenants. The fire then extened into an apartment on the first floor through a window.
It took 37 firefighters approximately 10 minutes to get the fire under control.
No one was found inside of the apartment, but LFD reports that one adult and two children have been displaced by the fire.
