AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Mid-level clouds rolled across the region early this morning, arriving thicker than expected and keeping temperatures a little warmer than yesterday. Even so, a few spots managed to dip into the upper 50s before the cloud cover moved in.

The rest of the day will bring warm temperatures, light winds, and a few isolated to scattered storms drifting in from the higher terrain, mainly across northern areas. Highs will top out in the 80s to low 90s.

On Sunday, rain chances pick up as the weather pattern shifts. The best chance for showers and storms will come later in the day and into the night. Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages, slightly cooler than today.

Looking into next week, rain chances remain high, though widespread flooding is less likely
