A change in zoning regulations pushed by the province to get more housing built hasn’t generated many results in at least one Okanagan municipality.

The province last year required municipalities to change zoning rules to allow multi-unit buildings or secondary suites on former single-family lots.

Up to four units could be built on most eligible lots, and up to six in higher-density areas.

Lake Country complied with the new rules, making 1,200 lots eligible for what’s called small-scale, multi-unit housing.

In a presentation by planning student Megan Turcato on Tuesday, council heard no building permits have been issued for three- or four-unit complexes on eligible lots.

One single-family home permit has been issued and four permits for secondary suites.
