TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Participating shelters from all over the area offered discounted adoption fees to relieve their shelters of overcrowding. This was all part of WTWO's "Clear the Shelters" event.
"It incentivizes people to come in and take a look at adopting a dog, which they may not have considered, you know, maybe because of the cost for the adoption fee prior and it also just gets people out to see kind of what we do, what we're about and engage with the community, said Maggie Wheeler, a volunteer coordinator at Terre Haute Humane Society.
Over at the Terre Haute Humane Society, animals were offered for discounted prices, helping numerous pets found their forever home Saturday. This family was the first adoption at Terre Haute.
