BBC's Strictly Come Dancing faces a fresh crisis after one of its stars was reportedly arrested on suspicion of rape . ‌

The male suspect, who has not been named for legal reasons, is also said to have been questioned by police regarding allegations involving "non-consensual intimate image abuse". ‌

The broadcaster confirmed to our sister title The Mirror that there is an "ongoing police investigation". The development is separate from the upcoming series of the show. ‌

It comes as the BBC launched an inquiry into claims of drug abuse by stars on the show.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the Sun on Sunday: "On Friday, August 22, officers arrested a man on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse.
