Evacuation warnings are in place for parts of Tuolumne County due to a fire burning in Sonora, officials said.
According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office, the fire started near Highway 49 and Elk Drive.
The Sonora Police Department said the evacuation warnings are in place in the following areas:
Roble Road
Elk Drive
McCormick Drive
O'Hara Drive
Gatewood Drive
Corte del Encino
Pesce Way
Under an evacuation warning, residents are advised of a potential threat to life and property. The fire initially triggered evacuation orders, but those have since been downgraded.
Agencies have not reported how many acres the Elk Fire has burned as of 4:30 p.m. Forward progress has been stopped, according to the Sonora Police Department.
