Part of the Maroon Lake loop trail at Maroon Bells Scenic Area has been closed due to moose activity on the far end of the lake. The section of the trail will stay closed for a week.

According to a Facebook post from the U.S. Forest Service - White River National Forest, there have been several incidents where a bull moose became agitated from close encounters with humans and dogs. The Aspen-Sopris Ranger District made the decision to give the moose time to settle down and work to help visitors understand safety around moose.

As Colorado Parks and Wildlife says, "Caution and common sense go a long way in preventing problems with moose," the Facebook post reads.
